Czech Republic took the 14th place, beating Germany


Institute of World Economics regularly rates the safest countries to live in. The publication Global Peace Index 2013 stated that Czech Republic took 14th place and surpassed Germany, Australia, England and the United States. Neighbors of Czech Republic also took a good place in the rankings. For example, Austria was awarded fifth place, Germany 15th, Poland 26th and Slovakia 34th . Rating was based on a number of criteria that affect security in the country (war, the level of organized crime, the overall level of crime, international relations, refugees, etc.). The five safest countries are Iceland, Denmark, New Zealand, Switzerland and Austria. Last place in the ranking got Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, Iraq and Sudan.
